Susan B Strong — Author
"Writing is how I survived. Now I write so others know they can too."
I'm Susan B Strong — author of more than 15 books that range from whimsical children's stories to raw, unfiltered memoirs and heartfelt poetry. Every single word I've written comes from a place of lived experience, which means every book carries a piece of my real journey.
I grew up believing that my stories didn't matter — that who I was, where I came from, and what I'd been through wasn't worth writing down. It took years of healing, therapy, and sheer stubborn will to realize that the opposite was true: my stories are exactly what the world needs.
Today, I write for the little girl who needs to see herself reflected in a picture book. I write for the woman in the middle of a dark season who needs to know she's not alone. I write for anyone who has ever felt too much, loved too hard, and been told to shrink themselves. This is for all of us.
From a young age, Susan found solace in words. Journaling became her escape — a private world where she could be completely honest about her experiences, fears, and dreams.
After navigating some of life's most difficult chapters, Susan turned to writing not just as expression — but as therapy. Her memoirs were born from this period of raw honesty.
Publishing her first book was terrifying and exhilarating in equal measure. The response from readers who saw themselves in her words gave Susan the courage to keep going.
Inspired by the children in her life, Susan launched her beloved Princess Pickle series — joyful stories that celebrate imagination, difference, and the magic of childhood.
With 15+ books and counting, Susan continues to write stories that matter. She's currently working on new additions to the Princess Pickle series and a new poetry collection.
Every story I tell is real. I don't write from imagination alone — I write from scar tissue, from joy that was hard-won, from life as it actually is.
Children should see themselves in books. Every child deserves a hero who looks like them, thinks like them, and tells them: you belong here.
Stories have the power to heal. Whether you're 4 or 44, finding yourself in a story can change how you see yourself — and that matters deeply to me.
From children's adventures to raw honest memoirs — there's a Susan B Strong book for every reader in your life.
